Terms of Service
Last updated 2 September 2026
These terms cover your use of this website and the services provided by Absolutely Dust Free Hardwood Floor Finishing (“ADF Flooring”, “we”, “us”), a sole proprietorship owned by Shaun Humphreys of Orem, Utah. By using this website or requesting an estimate, you agree to these terms.
1. What we do
We refinish, repair, recoat and restore hardwood floors for residential and commercial customers in Utah County, Utah, including work carried out as part of an insurance claim. All sanding is done with dust containment equipment.
2. Estimates
Estimates are free and carry no obligation. An estimate is based on the condition of the floor as seen at the time of the visit and the scope discussed with you.
An estimate is not a fixed price contract. If conditions are found during the work that could not reasonably be seen beforehand — for example subfloor damage, moisture, hidden repairs, prior finishes or unexpected wood conditions — we will stop, explain what we have found, and agree any change in price or scope with you before continuing.
Estimates are valid for 30 days unless we tell you otherwise in writing.
3. Scheduling and access
Work dates are agreed in advance and depend on the size of the job, material lead times and drying conditions. We will keep you informed if a schedule changes.
You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the work area, along with electricity and water where needed. Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, the area should be cleared of furniture, rugs, electronics and personal belongings before we arrive. Where we have agreed to move furniture, we will take reasonable care, but we cannot accept responsibility for items that are unusually fragile, unusually heavy, or already damaged.
4. During the work
Refinishing involves sanding, staining and applying finish. Even with dust containment, a small amount of airborne dust is normal and cannot be eliminated entirely. Finishes and stains produce odour while curing.
You are responsible for keeping people and pets off the floor for the times we specify. Walking on, placing furniture on or exposing a floor to water before it has cured will damage the finish and is not covered by any warranty.
5. Wood, colour and finish
Wood is a natural material. Grain, colour, knots, mineral streaking and how a floor takes stain vary from board to board and from one species to another. Samples, photographs and previous jobs are a guide, not an exact match. Wood also changes colour over time with exposure to light.
Where colour matters to you, we will prepare stain samples on your own floor, in your own light, for your approval before we proceed. Once you approve a sample, that is the agreed colour.
6. Pricing and payment
Prices are as set out in your written estimate or invoice. Unless agreed otherwise:
- A deposit may be required to schedule the work and order materials
- The balance is due on completion
- Accepted payment methods will be stated on your invoice
- Overdue balances may incur reasonable late charges and collection costs
Where work is being paid for by an insurance carrier, you remain responsible for any deductible and for any amount the carrier does not pay.
7. Insurance claim work
We can document damage, provide scope and pricing, and work directly with your adjuster. We are a flooring contractor, not a public adjuster or an insurance company. We do not guarantee that a claim will be approved, or that a carrier will pay any particular amount. Coverage decisions are between you and your insurer.
8. Warranty
We warrant our workmanship for the period stated on your estimate or invoice. If no period is stated, we will correct defects in workmanship reported to us within one year of completion.
The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear, scratches, dents, denting from furniture or pet claws
- Damage from water, flooding, leaks, humidity or moisture in the subfloor
- Damage from improper cleaning products, steam mops or excessive water
- Movement, gapping, cupping or crowning caused by seasonal humidity changes
- Fading or colour change from sunlight
- Damage caused by others, or by use of the floor before it has cured
- Pre existing conditions in the wood or subfloor that were disclosed or visible
Manufacturer warranties on stains and finishes, where they exist, are provided by the manufacturer and passed through to you.
9. Cancellation
Please give us as much notice as you can if you need to cancel or move a scheduled job. If materials have already been ordered or custom mixed for your job, or if the cancellation is on short notice, we may charge reasonable costs already incurred. If you cancelled within a period required by applicable Utah or federal law, that right applies regardless of this section.
10. Communications and text messaging
By giving us your phone number you agree that we may contact you by phone, text message and email about your enquiry and your job. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of text messages at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
11. Photography
We may photograph our own work before, during and after a job, and use those photographs in our portfolio, on this website, in advertising and on social media. Photographs show the floors and the work, not you, your belongings or your address. If you would prefer we did not photograph your job, tell us before we start and we will not.
12. Website content
The content on this site — text, photographs, logos and design — belongs to ADF Flooring or is used with permission, and may not be copied or reused without our written consent. Information on this site is provided for general guidance. We try to keep it accurate but do not warrant that it is complete, current or error free.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the work is limited to the amount you paid us for that work. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of use, inconvenience, or lost income. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
14. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. If a problem arises, please contact us first — almost everything is resolved by a phone call. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Utah County, Utah.
15. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. The terms in effect when you accept an estimate are the terms that apply to that job.
